I went through exposure therapy for PTSD with my therapist and this was one of the ideas she brought up with regards to my stuttering. I can't think back too far specifically as it was childhood trauma that occurred to me, but we definitely gave it some serious thought. I could talk to my mother about my stutter as I do remember testing for speech therapy (and being told I wasn't a "true stutterer" *eyeroll* ) in early elementary and the trauma occurred prior to that. I do definitely have social anxiety that's diagnosed as well so that definitely plays a roll in my stutter as the more I dwell on it, the more anxious I get, and then it's a vicious cycle.
