While it might be interesting to compare our personal horrors in some kind of one-upmanship game, I won't take the bait. However, no matter what one's problems are, taking some kind of action to address one's issues, no matter what the issues are, is the way to begin to improve our lives. I spend my days working with people at truly a low ebb of their life. Sometimes just getting out of bed that morning is a major victory for them. For others, it's going an entire day without self-harming. The first step on our paths out of pain is to decide to take a step, whatever that step is. If that doesn't work, we try something else. It's about creating a situation where we take ownership of our issues and begin to work on a path to deal with them, whatever that path may be.
