Hi, I'm Sue, and am relatively new to the group. Your response to the young girl whose boyfriend had mimicked her was very wise. She needs to set her boundaries now. It appears that this is a pattern; his making light of the one thing that dominates and controls the life of all stutterers. This life-altering handicap is never a laughing matter to us. I stuttered from age 4 and it was only 5 years ago, through psychotherapy, that I became fluent at 70. I had an abusive childhood and had never fully dealt with the pain and anger. I also had to make some changes in my life which caused great anxiety. It isn't as if I'd not sought speech and psychological therapy most of my life, but this therapist was able to help me. It's been 5 years that I've been fully fluent. I owe it to others to support them in their challenge with this great, life-altering condition. Sue
