I don't really tell people that I stutter, I just make them realize I stutter once I stutter in a conversation with them. I want them to have patience and not try to help me with my words too much. I can appreciate it if I have been stuck long in a single word and the other person knows what I'm about to say it's alright if that person says the word for me, but not too often. I take it as an insult if they seem to be impatient or stop looking at me (or similar signals) as if they are ashamed to listen to me. But like 99% of the time they just look at me like normal so it's alright.
