>I was talking to a friend and I stuttered. This was not the first time I stuttered around him, in fact we've discussed stuttering before. It's out in the open, it's no big deal. If it were a random incident with a stranger or acquaintance, I wouldn't think anything of it. But this was a friend. One who knows she stutters, knows how she feels about it. And all of a sudden he decides she needs comfort? Unsolicited comfort from him, without even checking first? It's clumsy at best. And presumptuous. A presumption that I think is the opposite of what she wants to give off. No one is saying he's a dick or purposely meant offense, but the result was still patronizing.
