Does Stuttering effect your mental health?

Does Stuttering effect your mental health? I was wondering if your stuttering problem causes you to go crazy like it does me. That's all I think about. I am sometimes scared to speak, so therefore I have been in a corner all my life. Is there anyone else out there like that? What do you do?
