Im a Neuroscience PhD candidate, and have done alot of research into the pathology of stuttering. The hard part with discovering the root of the disorder and subsequently a medication is that stuttering is a developmental disorder, which means there are probably both a wide array of genetics interacting with early, subtle environmental factors. There probably will never be a totally effective treatment, but therapy has come a long ways and the stigma of the disorder I think has decreased over the years!
