I agree with you completely about stuttering and adaptation being individualized. I too have felt that feeling of the stuttering walls close in on me. Its like eventually all these tricks stop working, or worse become a part of your stuttering moment, and then I'm stuck. I know that doing EVERYTHING TO AVOID stuttering can be just as debilitating as stuttering itself. But I feel that people who don't understand "survival mode" and say there is only one way to deal with it, (acceptance and advertising) are doing PWS a huge disservice. Speech therapy is critical, yes, but when people come here asking for help because they FINALLY have a job interview, or a high stakes Presentation etc for the coming week, it important that they get some easy to apply, speech "tools" that can get them past their Name. I don't know... maybe I'm wrong.
