Potential Fix For Stuttering

Potential Fix For Stuttering G'day; I'm an ex-stutterer who was fortunate that my stuttering reduced as I grew up. Having met a couple of stutterers in recent times I have given the condition some thought and believe I may have a potential solution that could help some people. I recognise that the subreddit states that it doesn't allow cures to be posted without research but I hope that the moderators can make an exception for this as I believe it makes common sense. The solution is thus; I believe that if a stutterer was to take a vow of silence, i.e. to stop speaking, and only break that silence in the event that they know that what they aim to say will be said without stuttering. In other words; the stutterer only speaks with confidence and if unconfident they remain silent. This means the stutterer is never speaking under duress and is not under pressure to speak clearly; pressure that leads to stuttering. I encourage the stutterer to remain receptive to people by smiling and displaying a positive demeanour. This will alleviate the concern others may feel about the stutterers silence; i.e family and friends. The stutterer can communicate in written form if they wish which may be necessary in a school or work environment. I believe that the stutterers confidence will grow as the frequency of un-stuttered communication increases with time. I hope people find this helpful and if so I encourage them to share this method with others who may benefit from it. Best of luck.
