This was my experience as well. I got one 20 years ago and it also cause me hearing issues because the choral repeat would activate if noises were too loud. I was also in highschool and got embarrassed people thought I had a hearing aid. But that last one is more the silliness of being young. I feel bad that my parents spent so much on it but I stopped using it after a few months.
