So I’ve worked as a medical assistant in orthopedic office. Definitely when calling patients names it was hard because I wasn’t able to fluently pronounce their names. But working with the doctors it was very exciting and fun of course for me, but I always had it in the back of my head I would be a bad healthcare worker because of my lack of fluency. I chose to apply to nursing school and I’m happy I did it but I’m always so worried about my fluency, especially when it comes to reports, patient teaching, just general communication between team members. I would love to hear how you handle your stutter especially as a new graduate nurse. I definitely have my negative weeks where I feel like. I’m so anxious to even talk to my friends and then I have my weeks where I feel so good about myself regardless, if I’m stuttering. My one question to you especially is, how do you handle it as a nurse having a stutter and do you disclose it to your coworkers, the doctors, etc.
