I'm not reluctant, per se. While I know speech pathologists exist, it's not really a booming field where I'm from. My college just had their first batch of graduates, that's how "new" they are. And it's only the last 2 years during my internship that it really sunk in that I had a problem, and that I would need to be more loquacious in order to survive this field. Plus, 36 hour shifts for 2 years wasn't really the best time to seek a therapist. When I wasn't working or studying I was asleep and not stuttering lol. The Internet and even this subreddit isn't too keen on speech paths. They work for some, not for others. Didn't really have time for the latter. How did you overcome yours by the way? It's inspiring to me that anyone with a stutter could be a lawyer. If I could choose all over again, I'd probably still be a doctor rather than a lawyer. Seems more reliant on communication and presentation and hence more stressful.
