I started college in another town last year and that was one of the lonliest years for me. I could barely talk to anyone, and while everyone was getting to know eachother I was off to the side. Only towards the end of last year I started talking to some of my classmates and this year we've gotten much closer. I also think that most of my friends are friends with me out of pity even though I know that's not it. If there's anything I can tell you is that your friend aren't hanging out with you out of pity, don't doubt yourself, you're probably a good friend and a good person. And if you decide to go to college in another city, don't worry about making friends. Just start slow, ask them about the subjects you have or homework or just anything else, start small. Don't stress yourself out so much, you'll do great.
