It might not carry over completely, but in my opinion, it's not a bad way to practice to speak SLOWLY. It might not be activating those same areas in your brain, but you can teach yourself how to speak slowly, which can be used when you ARE experiencing those anxious moments where you are stuttering. I think the other commenters are true, but to say it's not helpful at all is silly, in my opinion.
