Sure if he hadn't become king his stutter wouldn't have been of much interest historically, but he did have to give public speeches as the Duke of York. His most famous disastrous speech was at the British Empire Exhibition long before he became king, and he sought help for his stutter long before becoming king because of these occasional speeches. It's kind of crazy that there hasn't been more fruitful research on stuttering. I think it's pretty bizarre that my grandad has a severe stutter, and his identical twin only ever spoke fluently. Identical twins have all the same genetic material.
