I brought this up to my speech therapist and she laughed, saying, "Once we get further into therapy and you have real, tangible tools to help you through your speech, you will find that you stutter the most while drinking." She was correct and I consider it a milestone for me and my speech. I do definitely agree that, before therapy, drinking made me feel far more fluent. I assume at that point it's just because you're so much less anxious and inhibited in everything while drinking.
