You definitely shouldn't let go of that dream, just because of your stutter. You have a possibility, along with the talent, and abilities to back it up. Those pro players that demeaned you? Wouldn't it feel great to put them in their place? Remember that it isn't impossible for you to communicate, it just requires greater effort, and if it isn't impossible, then it's conquerable. You got to top 40 while stuttering, which is insanely impressive, and confirms that you are capable of achieving your dreams. Fuck what anyone else says about your stutter, either they listen to your calls and win, or don't and lose :)
