Depends on the person, but it definitely can. If your mental health is generally okay, I’d try that. I took public speaking and acting classes and found them helpful. After you’ve been publicly humiliated on purpose along with everyone else in your class, you kind of start to tolerate such situations better. I also found it helpful to see how people who don’t stutter can actually perform worse than me just because they’re paralyzed with fear. My sister (she doesn’t stutter) once worked in a call center, and she said that after that, she’s not afraid to talk in any situation anymore. But again, all of that only applies if you find such exposure tolerable. You are very young and I believe starting at an early age is more helpful. Based on my experience (and it might not be true for everyone), the longer you avoid stressful interactions the worse it gets. I thought I’d somehow magically become more confident and calm over time but it never happened 😬
