I used to just repeat letters, had speech therapy as a kid and it didn’t work. Family then moved house at 12 and it nearly completely disappeared. 14 years old and it came back and had evolved into total facial tics and eye rolling when I got stuck. Had speech therapy again didn’t work - no improvement whatsoever using their “tried and tested” techniques. I genuinely look like I’m having a seizure and it’s incredibly infuriating to say the least. Over the last few weeks I’ve started prolongation on top of that. I pretend I’m mute now. I’m nearly 20 and I need my mum to come with me to appointments. I avoid buses because you need to talk to the driver, unless you fork out £4.90 on an all day on the app. Trains are my life if I go somewhere alone. I can’t even talk over the phone. 4 doctors have told me to get over it - which I know I have to do but after the abuse I’ve received, I’ve more or less accepted the fact that I’m mute in public. Happy days 🥳
