Having worked in customer service, I think the hardest part was feeling like I was inconveniencing people who had to listen to me stutter. At some point I decided that what I have to say is more important than that and that I am entitled to other people's patience with me IF they choose to interact with me. Since then if I stutter, I just own it and keep speaking like I did nothing wrong. IDK about others but I definitely stutter more out of stress, anxiety, shame etc. so removing the shame factor from my mindset has helped me manage it better emotionally and sometimes even reduce the stutter.
