I’ve been stuttering since the age of 4, now 78f. I wouldn’t have survived without psychological support. It allowed me to have a relatively pleasant life although we both know how frustrating and life-limiting our condition is. If you live in the U.S., UK or many first world counties there is mental health support even without insurance. With insurance, any govt. program, county or state support there’s also something especially if you live in a metropolitan area. You’d be in luck if you live near a university or medical school. They have free or almost free psychological support and therapy as well as a speech-language department for speech therapy. The most important thing is your emotional state. Depression, loss of hope is life destroying. Please know that you can feel less hopeless with support. If you haven’t accessed the online stuttering groups (Google Stuttering groups) there are even personal groups. Online mutual support on Facebook and this Reddit help too. You are not alone. We’ve all gone through this loss of hope. Keep reaching out. We’re all here to help each other. S.
