I think you are somewhat right, since suffering forces us to change. I can say that I only decided to work every day on overcoming my stutter because I got tired of suffering. Tired of feeling uncomfortable, tired of feeling fear every time I left my house, tired of feeling anxious about speaking, tired of missing opportunities, etc. As crazy as it sounds, maybe if people were ruder with us, that flame of change would grow bigger inside us. I think that's the beauty of suffering. It forces us to become stronger, better. If it wasn't my stutter I would never start on self-improvement, working out, creating discipline, reading about stoicism and CBT, etc. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise?
