I stuttered moderately throughout my childhood and school and overcame it in adulthood. I now speak regularly for work, making sometimes dozens of phone calls a day, which used to be an absolute hell for me. Your parents probably just love you and want to give you as much opportunity as they can, and are doing that by staying positive. You CAN be a radio announcer (if that's what you want). Trust me.
