You’re not even being “blunt”. You’re just being a dick. You are telling people that they are “playing” the victim? What does that even mean in this context? You think they’re pretending it sucks? You admit it sucks! You can encourage people to persevere without belittling them, or invalidating their struggles. And you gave a bit of obvious advice - “find a competitive advantage in one of your strengths”, but then you invalidated it by immediately calling that effort “simple”.
