My stutter can be really bad, and my job requires me to be talking a lot in order to be effective. Over the phone, over zoom, and face to face. I’m reading, giving lists, spelling my name, *saying* my name. All of these thing are not easy for us, and it requires mental effort at every instance. BUT. The longer I’ve worked at this job (total 14 months so far) my mental state has improved when it comes to stuttering. I hate working a 9-5, but it gets easier to overcome the dread of every situation involving speech. Another thing: good people really won’t care that you are stuttering. If someone is an ass, and wants to make a big deal out of it- that’s their problem not yours. TLDR; the more you talk and overcome the fear, the better it will get, even if you are still stuttering just as much.
