My old speech therapist always used the analogy of treating our “muscles for talking” like actual muscles. If you don’t train them, they’re going to be weak. You always warm up and stretch before a work out, otherwise you could get injured (this one was to get me to do speech exercises in the morning). The more comfortable you get with training, the less anxiety you feel and the more you start to enjoy it. First time doing squats or deadlifts can be intimidating but once you start doing it regularly it becomes fun. Same goes with talking. He probably said all those things because I enjoy working out and would immediately understand lol.
