> There is little foundation for knowing this is legit or not. That is neither here nor there. This is the problem with how we Americans think about the world. We don't trust ourselves to test ideas that are new or different... to think them through or match our own sensibilities up across from them. We stutterers are very smart people. I doubt you'll find many people here, who are defensive about new models or ideas. People who need help, need help from every angle they can get it from. I went to Germany for my senior year of high school, and my personality totally transformed when I saw how Germans expect themselves and eachother to grapple with every subject under the sun, personally. It's a refreshing way to discuss issues. Furthermore, there are all kinds of cross-pollination that can and should happen between different academic fields. We should have people who are learning singing coming over to this subreddit, and talking about breath control. We should have acting students doing the same. We should have religious people of varying stripes who have meditation techniques to share. The problem is, that these people generally don't trust themselves to help out when they're not professionals in the field. And the attitude that no one's words have any worth who aren't professionals in the field is exactly the crux of the issue.
