Thanks for the question - I’m not a person who stutters, but I was deeply moved by the SAY gala that I went to in 2014 with my producer Michael Alden. Michael had produced the Kings Speech play on Broadway & the West End in London and seen a film that I had made and liked it, and invited me to the fundraiser. I was moved and inspired by the stories of young people being bullied and tormented just because of how they speak, and when I left that night after the fundraiser I realized I could either turn away or throw a camera on my shoulder and tell their story. I chose to tell their story.
