In my case, if I tell people about my stutter it makes it easier for me to handle. When I was doing summer jobs in my office my dad told my his workers that I had a stutter. Even though some of them knew me, some didn't and there are always impatient people out there. It made my experience much more comfortable so that they are aware and understanding. That was my experience. People were very supportive when I told them and I never had any issues with anyone at my dad's office being impatient or rude because I stutter.
