In western, modern society it is normalized for the most part. Most people know what it is and don't view it as some embarassing disability. The best advice I've ever received about my speech is to accept it. Otherwise I will be embarassed and depressed about it for the rest of my life. I suggest you start to accept yourself and your speech instead of allowing it to impact you so negatively.
