I'm a live receptionist for a company that gets contracted out by other businesses to answer their phones for them so they business can focus on actual work. My stutter is mostly getting stuck on words that start with L, M, R, W, Y, or O's that sound like w (like one). My job has a script that pops up with every call so I know exactly what words to say, but sometimes I need to go a little off script to be able to get the sentence out without stuttering as much. Like one of our script greetings is "thank you for calling blah blah law, are you calling for legal advice with your divorce?" And saying "with" after legal advice ALWAYS gets me so instead I say "about your divorce". We're scored on how well we stick to the scripts but I let my trainers know that I have a stutter and need to make certain changes in order to keep the call moving fluidly. I still get stuck or still have to stop to collect myself and slow down to focus on what I'm trying to say, but I haven't had any complaints yet. Be honest and focus on what you're able to highlight about yourself, and you'll do great!
