Fuck. I'm going to be that guy: You will most likely not be selected for BUD/S training or other MOS/AFSC's that call for being able to clearly communicate when under intense pressure. The military as a whole cannot take the risk that, in a crisis, when seconds count and lives depend on your clear and concise communications, that you might block and thereby get others killed. It's not fair, it never will be, but that's the harsh reality of it. I've been in the USAF for 15+ years and when I was younger attempted to cross train into aircrew where the same limitations and requirements exist. I was told politely, but firmly, no for the reasons I stated above. That being said: ignore me and go for it, man. Make them deny you and don't let what one, old E-6 says discourage you from pursuing this dream. For what it's worth, I hope I'm wrong and you DM me in a few years and tell me how you're doing SeAL shit all over the world. Just have a fallback job ready if you do decide you want to join the USN. I wish you all the best, brother, and hope to see you in uniform.
