I hate how stuttering is the only disability that is still socially acceptable to make fun of Growing up people always made fun of me for it. I've since outgrown it/learned coping techniques but it still pops up every now and again. Just last week I went to the gas station and the cashier asked me if I wanted cash back. I replied 'n-n-n-no thanks you' She snickered at me and it took me right back to 4th grade when people would make fun of me for not being able to fluently read out loud. I understand that the faces I make when caught on a word may be funny and the sounds I make can be offputting, I just wish people would stop treating stuttering like it's still something to laugh at.
