I read a paper before whereby trainee speech and language therapists went out into the community (shops etc) and were asked to mimick the experience of people who stammer. They were asked to struggle with wording, feign blocking etc…They were then asked to journal in their experiences……very enlightening when they articulated their “struggles” and listener reactions etc..
