I work in academia and I mostly include a bullet point on stuttering in an about me slide like you (or "transparency" slide). I try to make it a bit fun, like "it's not a brain freeze, I stutter ;)" because I shouldn't have to apologize for a disability and if the audience notices that I can laugh about it (although I actually can't but they don't have to know), it's a lot easier for everyone. And you know why talking about it is important to me? When I was still petrified and depressive about my mild stutter, it would have helped me heaps if someone else would have spoken openly about their disability (without trying to apologize for it, making themselves small).
