Take a performance course. Stand up comedy, theatre, contemporary performance, - whatever. Just something, on stage with a play/piece of work to work towards that has a public showing. And don't try to hide your speech difference. Theatre work didn't take away my speech issues, but it did make me care way way less about them. I speak differently, doesn't matter to shit because I can still \*communicate\*- and theatre gave me the confidence to go out and talk, because people will listen. Learning to treat listening as a certainity helped me hugely, and when people don't listen, or are asshole about it? Well, that is their problem, not mine.
