It can surely take a very long time for acceptance and have the ability to stutter freely. Remember, a lot of us have ingrained behaviors due to stuttering for decades. It can take another decade, or more, to reverse that mindset and behaviors. I had a path of acceptance, and even though I cared much less when I stuttered, I would still go down spirals and lose control of my thoughts. I realized I still had a lot of fear. And once, I worked through that, I realized my body still had instinctual behavior and was reacting to the stuttering. It's been a very long journey. The biggest thing for me has been to always try to go outside my comfort zone. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
