I'm an IT consultant in my twenties and my biggest realisation has been that no one really cares - neither my bosses, colleagues or customers. This might be because I'm no longer afraid or ashamed to talk about my stutter and do my best not to let it control my life (except phone calls.. those will probably always scare me)
