I started stuttering when I started high school. I was studying a lot in order to take a test and get into a very highly-regarded school. I went to regular school in the morning, and to test prep classes in the afternoon; in one of those months I also went to foreign language classes every day at night, effectively resulting in a 15-hour work (study?) day for a 14 year old kid. It was very stressful for 14 year old me. I got into the school I wanted to get into, but when all the stress left the stutter appeared (or remained). I don't know exactly when it began, but it was around that time. My dad says he used to stutter when he was a teenager, and he says it went away after he did some read aloud exercises for some time (I'm not sure as to how long). I've never heard him stutter. This is somewhat troubling because he then assumes that's the definitive cure. And he also often says stuff like "breathe", "calm down", etc. Ever since it started I went to therapy and speech therapy. I've gotten better and now I stutter occasionally instead of every time I speak.
