Someone who does not have the patience to listen to what you have to say is simply not worth your time. Don't evaluate your performance based on other people's response. I have learnt to be confident in myself, if someone cuts me off or doesn't let me finish my sentence, or makes fun of me, or give me the cold shoulder because I was not able to finish my thoughts, sentences, or phrases in their time is tragic for them because they missed out on the opportunity to get to know me to form a meaningful interaction with me. Find something that you enjoy doing, something where you can speak and be yourself. For some people learning to swim means throwing oneself into the ocean and going from there, but it doesn't have to be that way. One can start from a small backyard pool and progress from there. I was deathly afraid of going to work (substitute teacher) at times because I would be inserted into an unfamiliar environment with a bunch of teenage eyes on me as I struggle to read the first name off the attendance list. I still get anxious sometimes but I remind myself during those moments that I'm not perfect, nobody is perfect, and this is just one of my imperfections and it's what I do with it that gives me character. Trust that there are good compassionate people out there, your presence in their life may in fact be a reminder for them to be compassionate of others' imperfections as they would like others to be compassionate with their own. The fact that you are applying for jobs where talking and interacting with people is a key component tells me you are a brave person. There is no way I would apply for retail or food services, I have enough trouble ordering food some times haha. It may be a great goal to set but don't feel that it's the only solution. Surround yourself with people who look at you deeper than skin (I'm not talking x-ray vision :P) because behind looks and communication there is a mind and a heart. Now I want you to go to the bathroom mirror right now, look at yourself and smile a big smile :D
