HEY I HAVE A BLOCK Ok here’s what years of speech therapy have taught me. Your vocal chords are muscles that can be trained just like any other muscle in your body. When I block my vocal chords got tense and were pushed up, so I practiced what my speech therapist calls the “catch and release technique”. When you have a block around someone you are comfortable with, tense up even more than what feels natural, hold it for a second and then release it and relax. Once you are relaxed try your hardest to feel that relaxed feeling in your vocal chords and keep it that way while you speak. This isn’t a trick to deal with your blocking for a little while or in one particular situation. It’s a long term fix that I’ve been practicing for years and still haven’t mastered. Keep working on it and this may be what you are told by a speech therapist as well so be prepared if you go to one for no new advice
