Speech therapy didn't do anything for me and I think it's clear why: I can speak, the issue is mental (or maybe neurological). I don't blame myself, I'm just looking for ways to improve this condition. I think this theory accurately describes what's going on from my own experience, certainly better than other approaches I've heard about. First step to solving a problem is to understand it. Since there is no universally accepted theory, let alone one that produces good results reliably when applied to treatment, your guess is as good as mine as to how stuttering works or how to best think about it. It's a disability, sure, that doesn't mean doing something about it can't involve your own behavior and thinking.
