What if you actually took your time?

What if you actually took your time? We are often told by ppl who dont stutter to 'take your time'. You dismiss that and wish they were in your shoes. That shit actually works. Am 19 and I have stuttered all my life and i have bad blocks many times. I realized 50% of my stutter comes from forcing words out. I told myself for a whole day if i couldn't say it without forcing it out i wouldn't say it. It worked. That of course is not a cure for stuttering, its supposed to remove the embarrassing blocks, weird mouth postures and head movements (you know what am referring to). Now am more confident speaking to strangers bcs i have nothing much to be ashamed of. I will definitely take more time to say it but there will be zero to no blocks. If you have a block mid sentence, dont force it out, instead, use a speech technique called SLIDE OUT. what you do is you stop speaking completely, breathe in, relax your mouth, think about what you were saying and repeat from slightly behind where you blocked in the sentence. It works 70% of the time. You probably think it will get a bit awkward.. well yeah but compared to what? Compared to moving my head, weird mouth postures and even tapping my feet its much less awkward. Fun story at school i was having a conversation with this new teacher who didn't know i stutter. Due to the anxiety i had awful blocks. She asked me if I was sick bcs i was literally shaking.
