You tell your friends you don’t appreciate it when they speak to you like that about your stuttering. If they don’t like it, then go it alone at school. Don’t get too heated, though it would be tempting. I can almost guarantee you there is a kid or two at your school being bullied worse than you, and would be happy to be your friend. Go find them, I’m sure you already know who that would be. So I would really recommend the Dave McGuire course. They have an inexpensive self help book on Amazon called “Beyond Stammering: The Mcguire Program for getting good at the Sport of Speaking.” You can have the book downloaded onto your phone in minutes if you get the Amazon Kindle app. The book will go through psychological reasons for stuttering, give you a breathing technique, and inspire you to get out and practice speaking. The program will be fear inducing but use the people closest to you for support. Keep practicing the techniques and follow what the book says. Then I recommend reading “Redefining Stuttering” by John Harrison, someone who stuttered for many years and was part of the National Stuttering Association for many years. You can find a free link to the book at the website below. Free stutteringbooks.com Also, “Stuttering Mind” on YouTube is very empowering. As well as the channel “Stuttering with Olga.” You have to look at stuttering as a ball of energy that can be found in all or various parts of your life. You just have to look for it, deconstruct it’s pieces, and understand it. If you get creative enough, you can really relate any discipline to stuttering. I read articles on neuroscience on neuroscience news.com, and relate it to stuttering. Read my book recommendations first, then you will understand how to do this. Stuttering has been one of my biggest blessings because it’s taught me so much about myself. Keep going, keep pushing. There’s a whole world of self-improvement beyond speech. Dressing better, exercising, dieting, finances, etc., learning to be a good marriage partner, etc. If it helps you in the mean time, start working on these things so you don’t have to focus on speech all the time.
