Advice from any physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, or others who speak on the phone often for their job I’m a PA student and will be starting clinical year very soon. My stutter isn’t too bad when I interact with others, however talking on the phone has always seemed to make my stutter worse. I’ll also be nervous especially in the beginning of clinical, and nervousness typically makes my speech worse as well. I’m wondering if there are any healthcare professionals here with a stutter that can offer any advice when speaking on the phone in their line of work, or that you use when working in general. Advice from anyone else who speaks on the phone frequently for their job is also certainly welcome. Thanks!
