Tbh, I dealt with a lot of commitment issues at the start, due to my stutter I never really grew a bond with anyone as I was so scared to be rejected. So it was quite scary to be honest for me when I noticed that things were becoming more serious. But I enjoyed being with her so much that we continued to meet each other, and then one time, out of the blue, I kissed her. It scared me to be honest as I had the opportunity to do so several times earlier (there were numerous times when our faces were like 20cm apart from each other and I was just too scared to kiss her). But when we met the next time, we kissed for 3 hours straight. Then probably a month later (with me still being extremely scared to commit) I asked her to be my girlfriend and never looked back. Best decision of my life. And about the looking for a partner thing, for me, I was AVOIDING a partner to say the least, haha! I was so scared to be that close with anyone due to a fear of being rejected, so I never even asked a girl out. When I went clubbing (which was a rare occurrence) I avoided girls like they were the plague. And then I applied for a job, struck a conversation with my girlfriend (as you do with any coworker, nothing too special), it clicked, we grew closer and eventually ended up together. Never expected to meet someone, let alone at my job. But that’s the beauty of life man, wonderful things can happen when you least expect it. I do realise that I got lucky with meeting my girlfriend when I did as I really never went to any social events, so I’d suggest to go to social events but not with the intention to meet a girl. Just go and have fun with your friends, don’t make it your objective to HAVE to meet a girlfriend. I know how pessimistic you can feel from time to time, I’ve been there. But I am living proof that you can find someone because I never thought I would. Who knows, maybe you will find your soulmate tomorrow :)
