That’s a good point about interviews, I always disclose at the beginning of an interview that I stutter but not in an apologetic way but in a “matter of fact” way. For stressful situations, of course I stutter more especially with consultants, angry patients, etc. to this day I still stutter more speaking to secretaries for some reason. It could be because I’m standing and they’re sitting, I feel like they have more power than me. But that’s my own explanation for why it happens. Something interesting about my stutter in stressful situations is that at a certain tipping point, it improves a lot, like in serious medical situation such as a crashing patient or any ICU situation. I can’t explain it other than my focus goes completely on my work and reviving the patients more than my stutter. This has been noticed by my supervisors as well and have all complimented me on it.
