"Getting over stuttering" can mean a couple of things, I suppose. It can mean getting to a place where stutter no longer makes you mad, sad and that sort of thing. It can also mean getting to a place where you're able to manage the stutter you experience, such that it's more comfortable to communicate in general. It can also mean that over the years, stutter tends to diminish, or the emotional effect tends to be less, and communication tends to get easier that way. Finally, it can mean not stuttering anymore, but that's not terribly useful to have in mind, when dealing with a scenario where stuttering is present. - So, for instance, speech therapy is a way to get to some of the states above. Therapy in general might also be a way to get to some of it, depending on what the scenario is (like, if anger, anxiety or sadness is very prevalent). - You'll probably be able to find many different stories as to how people "got over stuttering", but that doesn't mean it'll be the same as your story, whichever way you choose to go from here.
