Yes, as others have commented, please do not ask him to read aloud. It can be very difficult and overwhelming to read in front of people. Try to connect with him before the tutoring sessions start. Make him feel comfortable and welcome and it should relieve a lot of the anxiety he is dealing with. Maybe try to talk about things he likes or just facilitate and comfortable, happy environment. Most of all, be patient. I have been an A or B student my whole life but could not effectively relay information to other people because of my stutter. With time and experience, your student should open up more and feel more comfortable speaking in front of people. ​ P.s. I think it's awesome that you came here for advice!
