First time on this page! Hi! I‘be had a stutter for much of my life, and was very fortunate to have parents who took my stutter seriously and sent me to speech therapy for a few years. For the most part, I can communicate just fine by using techniques and styles of speaking that I was taught. I’m curious though, has anyone else had some emotional issues surrounding their speech patter more or less being “decided” for you? I’m not even sure if any of you had similar speech therapy issues to begin with, but if you’ve experienced any discomfort with how your therapy went down, would you mind responding and sharing your story? Just looking for some solidarity, thanks! :)
